Until May the 4th
Atlanta, Feb. 28—In order for their cases to be heard by the United States Supreme Court on April 2, Governor Terrell has granted a respite for J.G. Rawlings, his two sons, Jesse and Milton, and Alf Moore, a Black man accused alongside them of killing the Carter children. The new execution date is set for May 4.
The case was advanced by the United States Supreme Court on Monday, with the trial scheduled for April 2. Rawlings and Moore had previously been granted a respite until March 2 to allow time for the writ of error, secured by the defense, to be heard by the court.
Because the hearing date set by the Supreme Court falls after the current respite expires, it was necessary to extend the stay of execution.
